How long can love survive? What would you do if a stranger appeared out of nowhere and told you he has been searching for you for 400 years? A stranger who challenges your dreams, your self-image and very the future you have charted for yourself? Love brings surprise, but is eternity a blessing, or is death a relief? In an opera based on Bram Stoker’s famous 1897 novel, we follow the story of Mina, whose settled existence is transformed forever when she falls in love with a mysterious gentleman.

Dracula is being performed for the first time ever at the Royal Swedish Opera just in time for Halloween. It’s a new work composed by Victoria Borisova-Ollas, one of the most interesting composers of our era, with text by librettist duo Claes Peter Hellwig and Kristian Benkö. Together with the composer, director Linus Fellbom and set/costume designer Dan Potra have created a breathtaking production with everything you could wish for on the operatic stage – Gothic romance, Victorian fashion and magnificent choirs. Broken hearts. Revenge. And blood. Of course.
