Seong-Jin Cho performs as winner of the 2015 International Chopin Competition. Held in Warsaw every five years, it is one of the world's most highly respected contests.

21-year-old Seong-Jin was born in Seoul and has already performed with several leading orchestras and conductors internationally.

His performance of the Concerto in E minor in the competition final was declared 'unequivocally brilliant' (Daily Telegraph). This all-Chopin recital by Seong-Jin includes his prizewinning performance of the Polonaise in A flat.

The International Chopin Competition remains a vital launching pad for the finest young pianists from across the globe. Past laureates have included such luminaries as Martha Argerich, Maurizio Pollini and Krystian Zimerman. Recent years have seen young winners including Rafal Blechacz and Yundi emerge into the limelight.

The competition specialises, as its name suggests, in testing its applicants exclusively for their interpretations of Chopin; but as few other composers have created such a wealth of music for the piano – demanding supreme abilities in both sonic imagination and physical dexterity – its prizewinners are expected to be musicians of exceptional sensitivity and expertise.
