Cursed by the goddess Hera, Echo may only repeat the last words spoken to her. Narcissus, a self-obsessed beautiful young man, rejects Echo and leaves her to waste away, setting the scene Bjarnason’s I Want to be Alive: Echo / Narcissus, an emotionally charged, cinematic reflection of echoing motifs and immersive story telling.
Brahms’s Double Concerto contains a world of energy and sharp contrasts. The fast-slow-fast feel of the piece, combined with its rich layered sound scaping, brings together calm introspection with bursts of sheer intensity.
Tickets for all 2025/26 season BBC Philharmonic Studio concerts will go on sale in June 2025.
