Richard Wagner didn’t just write operas, he was a creator of new worlds. Heroes struggle, gods rise and fall and whole universes crash in ruins, all swept along by some of the most intoxicating music ever composed. In this opening concert, Chief Conductor Juanjo Mena and acclaimed Wagnerian soprano Brigitte Hahn surrender to his power three times over.
From the passion of Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture and the whispered secrets of his sensuous Wesendonck Lieder, to the apocalyptic final scenes of Götterdämmerung where a woman’s heart redeems the world, this is epic music to overwhelm and inspire.
