Opus13 & Monbijou quartet

Monbijou Quartet and Opus13 come together in a program that moves between contemporary sonic imagination and the rich tradition of the classical string quartet. The concert opens with Hanna Blomberg’s Flyg!, a work in which energy and motion lie close to the surface of the music, followed by Haydn’s String Quartet Op. 76 No. 5, where clarity of form and warmth coexist with his characteristic elegance. After the intermission, the journey continues into Britta Byström’s Images from the Floating World, where the musical scenes shift between the lyrical and the almost impressionistically floating. The evening concludes with Mendelssohn’s Second String Quartet in A minor, an intense and expressive youthful work in which the melodic writing propels the music forward with both force and reflection.
