The singers of the Dutch National Opera Studio present a condensed version of Debussy’s groundbreaking opera *Pelléas et Mélisande*, one of the most original and intriguing operas of the twentieth century. Composer and conductor Marius Constant captured the essence of this masterpiece in his abridged version for two pianos and six soloists (1992).
This production is a deeply psychological interpretation of a classic and tragic love triangle. As the action unfolds in and on a grand piano, played by conductor Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg (Orchestra of the 18th Century), acclaimed director Joe Hill-Gibbins leads the singers of the Dutch National Opera Studio (DNOS) in a compelling and intense evening of musical drama. DNOS presents world repertoire annually in chamber opera format, with all the intensity of the original work. Produced by the Nederlandse Reisopera, in collaboration with De Nationale Opera and Opera Zuid.
