| Jörg-Andreas Bötticher | Bajo continuo |
Jörg-Andreas Bötticher is the master of ceremonies during this breathtaking showcase of Lenten music. The German harpsichordist, organist, and professor at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis is renowned for his subtle, historically informed interpretations. Together with ten soloists and continuo, Voces Suaves explores the world of father and son Scarlatti: Alessandro’s serene Salve Regina, which elevates devotion to an art form, and Domenico’s utterly unique Stabat Mater for ten voices.
The music of the other Italian composers is equally masterful. Such as Lotti’s exquisite Crucifixus and Allegri’s world-renowned Miserere. Voces Suaves sings this piece with the original vocal embellishments with which it was sung in the Sistine Chapel.
