Written in 1798, during a time of war and uncertainty, this music is both urgent and hopeful. Powerful orchestral passages and haunting choral sections convey threat and unrest, while intimate moments make room for resilience and trust.

This is juxtaposed with Mozart’s Requiem, a timeless work that gains new meaning with every performance. Without direct conflict, but with profound reflection on mortality, solace, and humanity. It is precisely in its unfinished nature that it remains open, vulnerable, and recognisable.
