In the Jazz Ring with Magnus and Olivia

Over the course of three concerts in the Grünewald Hall this autumn, Magnus Lindgren has invited musical friends to join him – one international guest at each performance. This intimate venue features a rarely used stage platform that rises from the centre of the floor, creating a unique space for musical encounters – with the audience seated all around. A jazz ring of sorts.

The final guest in the series is German pianist Olivia Trummer, who has studied both classical and jazz piano. Her formative years at the Manhattan School of Music in the jazz capital of New York, combined with her deep roots in classical music, continue to serve as a lasting source of inspiration. She has released around ten albums to date.

Magnus Lindgren’s artistry is marked by openness and curiosity. As a jazz musician, he has embraced everything from Brazilian samba to Swedish folk music. For 20 years, he co-led Konserthuset’s very own big band – the Blue House Jazz Orchestra – together with trumpeter Peter Asplund. He has released seven albums and in recent years has collaborated with, among others, John Beasley and Germany’s SWR Big Band.
