Elizabethan poetry has inspired much music over the centuries. This programme - lasting just under an hour - contains an exciting variety of music beginning with a partsong by Philip Rosseter, a direct ontemporary of Shakespeare, to pieces composed in the 20th century to words from The Tempest. We have an evocative taken on Ben Jonson's A Witches' Brew by Jeremy White and a lively setting of Queen Elizabeth I's own poem by Armstrong Gibbs. Brahms gives us his version of Come away, Death and other texts are set by Imogen Holst and Warlock.
Admission free with retiring collection.
