Her latest Wigmore Hall recital offers a gem of a programme, crowned by the formidable technical, musical and spiritual demands of Beethoven’s ‘Hammerklavier’ Sonata, among the greatest of his late works. She begins deep in Romantic territory with Franz Bendel’s exquisite improvisatory variation on Brahms’s Lullaby and a charming mazurka by Pauline Viardot.
