About the programme

Since its launch in January 2016, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (RSPO) has offered one year's training on site at the Konserthuset Stockholm.

The RSPO Orchestra Academy aims to give participating students heightened knowledge and understanding of the profession by giving them the chance to work with – and alongside – one of Europe’s leading symphony orchestras.

Application process

Application to the Academy is open to everyone with a Bachelor of Music or similar.  Applications for the 2026/2027 Academy will open on December 1, 2025 and will close by January 15, 2026. More information, including the audition repertoire, will be published on the 14th of November 2025.

The education is given together with the Linnaeus University.

Some of our tutors

Andrej Power has been the RSPO’s principal concertmaster since 2014, the youngest in its history. Alongside his new role as leader of the London Symphony Orchestra, he frequently guest leads ensembles such as the Swedish Radio Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Orchestre de Paris, and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Auditions
The first round is pre-recorded. Applicants must submit a video containing the requested repertoire before January 15, 2026, using the webforms on Muvac. Applicants who pass the first round will be invited to a live round at Konserthuset Stockholm, in March 2026. For more information about the application, procedure and requirements, please see the page of the RSPO Orchestra Academy.

Application and tuition fees
Individuals who are citizens of countries that are not part of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland are required to pay application and tuition fees. EU/EEA citizens don't have to pay fees, but they do have to document their citizenship status.
