During 2013, the academy will return to Kings place for three concerts as part of their year-long bach unwrapped Festival. The orchestra will be joined by renowned soprano Carolyn Sampson, for a series of programmes which set some of Bach’s most beautiful cantatas alongside each of the concertos composed for violin – either solo, doubled, or alongside another instrument.

Tonight’s programme was a real treat for Bach enthusiasts: one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world performing two of the most popular concertos, joined by Carolyn Sampson for two heart-wrenching cantatas for soprano and obbligato flute. We started with Cantata 209, “Non sa che sia dolore”.
