Around Moondog

An extraordinary character, a blind tramp who dressed as a Viking on the streets of New York, Moondog was admired by figures as diverse as Steve Reich, Charlie Parker, Janis Joplin, and Igor Stravinsky. His music forms a bridge between the resurgent science of counterpoint, Native American rhythms, jazz, and the beginnings of a repetitive aesthetic.

To honor him, Yves Rechsteiner has installed his explorer organ in the chapel and will play a four-handed medley of famous pieces and rare gems, taken among others from his organ album New Sound for an Old Instrument. All enhanced by the percussion of Henri-Charles Caget!
