Bedřich Smetana’s Furiant and Dance of the Comedians kick off this evening as a powerful tribute to the Bohemian spirit of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. For over a century now, this orchestra has been the sound of the Czech Republic, and it is undoubtedly one of the world’s top orchestras.
Under the baton of Semyon Bychkov, one of Europe’s most respected conductors, this identity feels stronger than ever. His recent appointment at the Opéra de Paris and the international acclaim for his award-winning recordings highlight his status as a leading conductor. The collaboration with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra - acclaimed, internationally celebrated and recently extended to 2028 - feels completely natural: here, music truly comes home.
In this musical synergy, Behzod Abduraimov takes to the stage with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, and with this monumental work, he elevates the evening to new heights. To conclude, the Symphonic Dances by the same composer sweep us off our feet, a vibrant and dramatic whirlwind that lights up the Blue Hall.
