Considered “a genius” and “one of the greatest artists of the 21st century” by the French newspaper “Le Figaro”, Fazıl Say has been touching audiences and critics with his extraordinary pianistic and composing talents.
Say had his first piano lessons from Mithat Fenmen, who had himself studied with Alfred Cortot in Paris. Say went on to fine-tune his skills with David Levine, first at the Musikhochschule Robert Schumann in Düsseldorf and later in Berlin, forming the aesthetic basis for his Mozart and Schubert interpretations. After gaining victory at the Young Concert Artists international competition in New York in 1994, Say has since performed with world’s most prestigious orchestras and conductors, building up a multifaceted repertoire ranging from Bach to contemporary music.
In this concert, Say will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 21 and his own work “Silk Road”, which was featured in his collaboration with the orchestra at the Tongyeong International Music Festival in Korea last year. The concert will finish off with the grand Symphony No 8 by Beethoven.
