In 2027, it will be two hundred years since the death of Beethoven, a composer whose music has lost none of its urgency even today. In this special anniversary year, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, together with top violinist Alina Ibragimova, will present a programme that revolves around musical depth, human lyricism and subtle humour.

The heart of the concert is Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D, a grand musical conversation in which soloist and orchestra are on an equal footing. With her poetic and introspective playing style, Ibragimova imbues every detail with meaning. This pure expressiveness flows seamlessly into the two Romances, compact masterpieces in which Beethoven shows his most direct and warm-hearted self.

Symphony No. 8 serves as a lively finale: light-hearted, full of rhythmic ingenuity and playful humour, in which Beethoven effortlessly moulds classical forms to his will. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra, internationally renowned for its transparency and chamber musical precision, allows this score to shine with unprecedented clarity.
