Mathei Florea New Grounds is an eight-member Berlin-based ensemble combining a classic jazz quartet with strings and blending contemporary Nordic jazz with elements of classical music. Led by Estonian pianist and composer Mathei Florea, the group was named Jazz Ensemble of the Year at the 2025 Estonian Jazz Awards. Its musical language, influenced by Petros Klampanis and Arvo Pärt, can be heard on the debut album Snap (2024) and a second studio album due in late 2026.
