The perfect opportunity to contrast the dream-like romance of Schumann and Mendelssohn's neo-classical sparkle.
Schumann and Mendelssohn were in awe of each other. However, although both were brilliant musical fantasists, tonight's concert shows the contrast between the dream-like, time-suspending romance of Schumann's Concerto with Mendelssohn's neo-classical sparkle and lithe textures - what Schumann referred to as 'Mozart's second coming'.
