The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra makes its first London appearance under new chief conductor Daniele Gatti.
This great Dutch orchestra is no stranger to London audiences; nor is Daniele Gatti. But this is their first time here together, and with a programme of Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Ravel, this should be a colourful introduction to a promising new partnership.
Better still, they’re bringing Lisa Batiashvili as soloist – another favourite with London audiences, chosen in 2015 as Musical America’s Instrumentalist of the Year. Fans of this ‘glorious‘ (Independent) Georgian violinist won’t need encouraging; her Prokofiev will be a brilliant centrepiece to a programme that crackles with energy, colour and potential.
