The UK’s premier summer classical music festival offers the chance to get up close to some of the world’s finest orchestras – a transformative experience at any age.

With acclaimed international pianists including Trifonov, Hough, Liseicki and violinists Faust and Hadelich, Reykjavik residents and visitors won't be short of concerti – but the season has plenty more.

During the 2015/16 season, the top 89 symphony orchestras in the US dedicated only 2% of their programmes to music composed by women. Here are ten women composing in a variety of different genres.
