Rossini's glorious, riotous comedy is an opera that needs little introduction. It is a masterpiece of operatic invention and is among the top five most performed operas around the world. It provides the 2014 season with much needed levity. Counts, doctors, barbers, disguise, love, mischief and a veritable greatest hits of opera melody makes for a pretty comprehensive night of joy.
