S'il faut être indulgent dans la laborieuse première partie, la Symphonie n°9 de Chostakovitch est pleine de verve, ce qui est remarquable dans de telles conditions. 

Substituting for Riccardo Muti, Gennady Rozhdestvensky lead the CSO in a program of diverse works for string orchestra along with Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, featuring the CSO's principal clarinetist.

Not having appeared with the CSO since 1999, Gennady Rozhdestvensky made a much anticipated return with the first and last symphonies of Shostakovich.
