Visually this production fully rendered the opera's atmosphere. The director was good at encompassing the private stories and emotions of the three main characters into a broader context, dominated by Fate.

A traditional, reassuring production of Bizet's popular opera, without any odd staging ideas. 

With ferocious military rhythms and relentless waves of sound, Mahler 6 is regarded a dark work. But La Verdi's treatment of the lighter material presented this symphony in an unexpected way.
