Saburo Teshigawara sets Rameau’s opéra-ballet Pigmalion as a compelling dance performance

Director Jo Davies' staging of Mozart’s dramma giocoso for Nederlandse Reisopera is a high-spirited  affair packed with humour, where the emphasis is decidedly more on giocoso than on the dramma.

A gleeful production of The Marriage of Figaro from Opera North, which makes it hard to imagine any dark side at all to the comedy. 

Entering the Norwegian National Opera for their season opener of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, I imagined it would be a pretty conventional production and was hoping for some good singing. Turns out, I was only partly right.
