In his monumental and unrivalled TRIO, Simon Steen-Andersen confronts an orchestra, choir and big band with video footage selected from over 400 hours of historical film material. The short clips – some lasting merely a fraction of a second – together form a collage of musical memories in dialogue with the 150 musicians on stage. With this grotesque and visually stimulating composition, Steen-Andersen confirms his place as one of the most original voices in contemporary music.
