Our Chamber concert series at Hallé St Peter’s is a unique opportunity to get up close to the music and enjoy smaller groups of musicians performing incredible music in a more intimate setting.
Our final chamber concert of the season is curated by our Featured Composer, James MacMillan. Filled with shimmering Impressionistic textures and vivid colours, Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro showcases the harp’s extensive range with sweeping waterfall-like glissandos and decorative arpeggios.
Soprano Mary Bevan joins for James MacMillan’s Raising Sparks, a retelling of the religious creation story. Six songs, linked by a repeated refrain, create a continuous journey depicting the outpouring of God’s love into a clay vessel that explodes, showering the universe with sparks of light and life.
Scottish-Greek composer Electra Perivolaris took inspiration from the rugged coastal landscapes of the Isle of Arran in Scotland and the Aegean island of Chios for Rock, Salt, Air, Water.
