Steve Reich’s The Desert Music is an impressive choral and orchestral work that combines poetic language with the sense of foreboding and uncertainty of its time. The title and texts are taken from William Carlos Williams, whose words Reich wove together into a single, expansive, breathing soundscape, based on his collection The Desert Music and Other Poems.
