Guide to the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and Festa

The Japan Chamber Music Foundation organizes the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and Festa every three years in order to focus the attention on chamber music, which is believed to be the essence of all musical principles.

The Competition is made up of two sections of which Section I is always for String Quartet and Section II now alternates between Piano Trio or Quartet and Wind Ensemble. For the upcoming 10th edition in 2020 Section II is devoted to the Piano Trio or Quartet.

"Festa" is a unique style of music competition with no age restriction, and no specific repertoire. The ensembles must consist of two to six members and they may play any musical instrument of their choice. Moreover, they may play a variety of music ranging from classical to traditional or ethnic sound from all regions of the world.

We would be very pleased if this event can help bring chamber music to a wider audience and deepen international and cultural exchanges.
