Ásta Dóra Finnsdóttir is one of Iceland's most promising pianists and is currently pursuing graduate studies at one of the world's most prestigious music schools, the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Here she plays Grieg's timeless piano concerto, which radiates life and vitality. The concerto was an immediate success upon its premiere and has since become one of Grieg's most popular compositions.

The second half of the concert will feature the Icelandic premiere of a new major work by Anna Þorvaldsdóttir. New works from Anna are always awaited with great anticipation all over the world. The work was commissioned by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Norwegian conductor, Tabita Berglund, is a rapidly rising star in the world of conducting and will take over the position of principal conductor of the Bergen Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2026.
