James Oesi, internationally acclaimed soloist and founder of the world’s only double bass festival, is putting it firmly in the spotlight. Together with pianist Djuwa Mroivili, he reveals the lyrical, colourful, and virtuosic side of the double bass.

The repertoire explores the instrument from surprising angles. Florence Price, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and Julius Eastman give powerful, long-overlooked voices a platform, while Dvořák, Brahms, and Gershwin showcase the double bass’s brilliance in classical and jazz.
