Opera’s greatest lovers (and worst romantic prospects) are thrown into the modern dating world. First impressions are made, red flags ignored and centuries-old seduction techniques put to the ultimate test.
After all, baritones rarely get the girl, sopranos have an alarming tendency not to survive the final act, and some of opera’s legendary lovers would be an immediate swipe left.
Making her Notable debut is soprano Erin Alexander - “a real comedic spark on stage” (Greg Eldridge, Director at The Royal Ballet and Opera) alongside returning Tim Alexander, the British star operatic baritone who has appeared at the BBC Proms and will be taking part in Notable’s upcoming staging of Carmen in France this October.
And there is one complication: Erin and Tim are married in real life. ❤️
From the dangerous seductions of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the swagger of Bizet’s Escamillo, to Lehár’s irresistible Guiditta and the romance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera - expect glorious singing, outrageous flirting, comedy and storytelling, with opera, operetta and Broadway colliding in the search for the perfect match.
A festive, irreverent and thoroughly different start to our new season and our only London event in September before Notable heads to the continent for Musical Travels in Champagne and the Fêtes Musicales in Sainte-Maxime.
