The Hallé, conducted by Tianyi Lu, give a magnificent account of Dvořák's Cello Concerto with Alban Gerhardt and Brahms' Third Symphony. 

Four very pictographic pieces: from early Puccini, through Dukas and Stravinsky to the present-day Spanish composer Francisco Coll. Neatly painted by the performers and with nothing to unduly scare the horses.

Tianyi Lu draws on the individual and collective virtuosity of the LPO to make an impressive debut in Rimsky-Korsakov, while Tom Borrow underplays the imperial qualities of Beethoven's “Emperor” Concerto.
