Classical Opera: Mozart's Requiem

Classical Opera returns to the Barbican Hall to perform Mozart’s immortal Requiem with an outstanding line-up of leading British singers - Sophie Bevan, Sarah Connolly, John Mark Ainsley and Darren Jeffery.

The unfinished Requiem, which will be performed in the familiar completion by Mozart’s student Franz Süssmayr, is partnered by Schubert’s magnificent ‘Unfinished’ Symphony, and the thrilling period-instrument timbres of The Orchestra of Classical Opera promise ravishing new colours and insights into these two monumental masterpieces. The Schubert will be prefaced by Haydn’s viscerally dynamic motet Insanae et vanae curae, and the Mozart by a rare performance of Cherubini’s startlingly extrovert Marche funèbre.
