Laraaji / Heaven is Ours-o Céu É Nosso

Opening the Biennale Musica 2026, Laraaji performs the world premiere of Alignment with electric acoustic zither, African thumb piano (kalimba), voice, keyboard synthesiser, nature loops and gentle percussion textures. Developed through an improvisatory approach grounded in a meditative presence, the performance unfolds as a sustained act of deep listening, moving between quiet, reflective passages and moments of heightened intensity. Conceived as a sound bath, it invites audiences to experience the music in a receptive state, whether seated or lying down with their eyes closed. Through the interplay of acoustic and electronic sounds, vocalisation, and invented language, Laraaji creates a lush harmonic field that encourages inward listening and contemplation.
