Don’t mention the Hovis ad - because with its great tunes, grand emotions and sweeping drama, Dvorák’s Symphony from the New World was a popular classic long before TVs even existed!

Dvorák loved his time in America, and his example was an inspiration to generations of American composers, including Leonard Bernstein. But he never lost his Czech accent, and Juanjo Mena will bring out all the nostalgia and joy in Dvorák’s much-loved melodies.

First though, take a musical boat-trip down the River Vltava in Smetana’s tuneful postcard from Prague, and hear a remarkable young German violinist summon the fire and ice of Bartok’s red-blooded Second Violin Concerto.

'A riveting storyteller' was how the New York Times described Augustin Hadelich: but hear for yourself.
