demonstrated at the
Proms in 2008. Tonight
they are reunited in
Beethoven’s most daringly
personal concerto,
remarkable for its outer
tenderness and underlying
intensity. After the interval,
Bruckner’s symphonic
swansong is performed by

superior’, under a conductor who helped reignite
contemporary interest in this profoundly spiritual
