A mythical, magical tale, a fate-filled journey from darkness to light, and pure Romantic lyricism – Gianandrea Noseda conducts Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky and Bruch.

Music speaks and tells stories in this concert, led by LSO Principal Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda. The orchestra and its gleaming palette of colours are used to full effect by Rimsky-Korsakov in his suite The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh, which brings to life the mythical, magical tale of the ‘Russian Atlantis’.

In Bruch’s Violin Concerto, with Janine Jansen in the solo role, the violin sings and soars, leading up to a buoyant, joyous folk finale. And Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, brimming over with drama and emotional intensity, brings the concert to a close, charting a course from darkness to a final, life-affirming glimmer of optimism.
