Those concertgoers who tore themselves away from the beach could watch the glorious sunlight fade to dusk through the Bantry House Library's huge windows.

The latest concert in the LPO's “Changing Faces: Stravinsky’s Journeys” series focussed on storytelling of the symphonic kind.

Bei den Metamorphosen waren die leisen Stellen total verinnerlicht, und in den intensiven Partien schien das Klangbild demjenigen der vollen Besetzung in nichts nachzustehen.

A moving first half of Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky and a mysterious Shostakovich 15 in the second half. Andreas Brantelid's superlative musicianship wowed.

Le Victoria Hall a été l’écrin du violoncelle d’Andreas Brantelid, qui a éclairé d’un romantisme lumineux le concerto d’Elgar, sous la direction inspirante de Marko Letonja. On regrette que le reste de la soirée n’ait pas fait preuve du même équilibre.
