Royal Academy Opera presents the last great work from Stravinsky’s neo-classical period, The Rake’s Progress, premiered in 1951 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The ingenious libretto is by WH Auden, and based on the celebrated set of etchings by William Hogarth. Tom Rakewell, suddenly possessed of an unexpected and substantial legacy, spends it on a life of luxury, prostitutes and gambling, and he ends up in the madhouse, Bedlam.

This production is led by Royal Academy Opera’s home team: directed by Resident Producer John Ramster and conducted by Director of Opera Jane Glover.
