With its Green Opera programme, La Monnaie is committed to reducing its ecological footprint as much as possible. However, we cannot do this alone, as our carbon emission calculations show that the displacement of our audience also has a non-negligible CO2 impact. With the following initiatives, we hope to convince a growing number of spectators to opt for a form of soft mobility when making their way to our venues. Pass by at our mobility desk in the Entrance Hall and we inform you on all these actions and how you can profit from them.
Bike:
You can park your folding bicycle safely and free of charge in La Monnaie's cloakroom. For all other bicycles, take advantage of the secured cyclo parking facilities De Brouckère and Bourse. No subscription is required; cyclists can simply park their vehicles for a set period of time and pay by the hour. In addition to the free first four hours, you then only pay €1.25 per 24 hours. Only people who created an account and added a payment method (which can be done on site) or people who already have a subscription to another cyclo parking facility can access it.

Discounts
Disabled people and their helpers benefit from a 25% discount on the price of all our operas, symphony concerts and recitals. Please contact MM Tickets to benefit from this special rate.
Wheelchair users
La Monnaie’s Main Auditorium not only offers excellent acoustics but is also a wonderful setting for our shows. It is indeed part of the city’s historic heritage. However, this listed gem also has its drawbacks: the Main Auditorium was not designed with wheelchair access in mind, and there is little room for adaptation. Nevertheless, we do our utmost to ensure that wheelchair users can also enjoy our shows to the full.
- We have two places reserved for wheelchairs in the Main Auditorium. They are located at the back of the parterre. From there, the surtitle displays are unfortunately not visible, except when they are set up on the side balconies.
- A ticket for a wheelchair seat costs €30. Tickets must be purchased from MM Tickets. When booking, please state the size of your wheelchair and whether you require special assistance.
- Wheelchair users can make use of the adapted sanitary facilities in our Theatre.
- Guided tours of our Theatre and Workshops are accessible to wheelchair users, who also benefit from a 50% discount.
- For safety reasons, we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs in the aisles of the Main Auditorium. It is therefore not possible to leave your wheelchair behind you or next to you and use a seat not reserved for wheelchairs.
- If you wish to book a place for a wheelchair for one of our shows outside La Monnaie, please contact MM Tickets and we will be happy to look into the possibilities.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome at our shows.
Audio description
Each season, La Monnaie provides a number of performances with an audio description. This allows the visually impaired operagoer to listen to a description of what is happening on the stage via headphones. A commentator’s voice summarises the action live, situates it in time and place, and provides details about clothing, hairdos and facial expressions – all these elements contribute to the telling of the tale and are part of a high-quality opera experience.
Transport to La Monnaie
People with reduced mobility can obtain special authorisation to access the entrance to our Theatre with their own vehicle or by taxi.
Personal assistance
Our ushers will be happy to offer assistance to anyone who requires it.
Lift
La Monnaie has a lift that enables people with reduced mobility to move from the ground floor to the upper floors of the Theatre.
Sennheiser MobileConnect
During the season 2025-26, we will introduce the Sennheiser MobileConnect app, ensuring optimal sound quality in our Great Hall for people with hearing aids.
There is no dress code, so wear the clothes you want to wear. You could, of course, make the evening that bit more festive by digging out a special outfit. But there is absolutely no obligation to do so: if you’re happy in a sweater, jeans, and sneakers, that’s fine by us.
In general, children can attend performances at La Monnaie from the age of 5. We even have a preferential rate for under 15s (booking only via MM Tickets). We do not have a creche available.
