Obra: Sonata for Flute and Piano in D major, Op.94

Juliette Bausor and Alasdair Beatson give an exciting and versatile programme of music for piano and flute as part of the European Concert Hall Organisation's ECHO Rising Stars programme.

This was a programme torn strongly in opposite directions: on the one hand lay the superlative artistry of both flautist Emmanuel Pahud and pianist Yefim Bronfman; on the other was the sheer unsuitability of the transcribed works – those by Schumann, Brahms, and Mozart.

Today's lunchtime Chamber Music Prom featured Emmanuel Pahud, paying us a flying visit from his regular job as principal flautist of the Berlin Philharmonic (literally - he's flying back to Berlin for a concert in the evening).
