Alice Tegnér is best known for her children’s songs such as Mors lilla Olle and Bä, bä vita lamm – where music and lyrics are beautifully and cleverly intertwined. But Tegnér also composed other works, including choral music and chamber music. Her distinctive gift for captivating melodies is evident in her sonata for violin and piano, which is also rich in dramatic passion and melodic charm.

Romantic composer Robert Schumann was driven by a deep love for both literature and music. His marriage to Clara was passionate and had a profound impact on his work. The fact that he also suffered from severe depression at times adds to the image of the emotional and fragile artist. His stormy yet beautiful third violin sonata was written just months before his tragic suicide attempt. He spent the remainder of his life in a psychiatric institution.

Performers are Amus Kerstin Andersson, associate principal of the second violins in the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, together with the orchestra’s pianist, Stefan Lindgren.
