Dutch wind players are known worldwide for their creativity, innovative approach and virtuosity. In the brand-new series The best Dutch wind players, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble (NBE) invites the absolute top of Dutch wind players to the stage. They are given free rein to bring their most imaginative musical concepts to life, leveraging the NBE’s extensive resources. The series starts with trumpet player and salsa star Maite Hontelé.

Though raised in the Dutch brass band tradition, Hontelé’s heart was soon won over by Latin American music. She blossomed into one of the biggest stars in the salsa world, and is beloved across South America. The NBE and Hontelé transport the audience on an unexpected musical adventure, rich in tradition and innovation, where Dutch brass band music and Cuban salsa merge effortlessly.
