Clarinettist and composer Jörg Widmann meets Felix Mendelssohn - two Birmingham favourites, united across the centuries.

Here in Birmingham, we’ve always loved talent. In the 19th century we greeted Mendelssohn like the superstar he was. Now, in 2025, we’re thrilled to welcome back a musical phenomenon of our own time: Jörg Widmann, composer, conductor and world-class clarinettist. He’ll play, he’ll conduct Mendelssohn’s stirring Reformation Symphony, and he’ll introduce one of his own remarkable compositions. It’s devilishly good!
