American composer, violinist, and singer Caroline Shaw is one of the most exciting voices in contemporary music today. Shaw's music and methods have attracted much attention, in many countries and far beyond the world of classical music, for their imaginativeness and experimentation that call for interpretation and active involvement from listeners. Shaw, who originally trained as a violinist, turned to composition after her violin studies with great success. She is a multiple Grammy Award winner, but rose to stardom in 2013, when she won the Pulitzer Prize as a composer for her Partita for Eight Voices. Shaw was then the youngest recipient of the prestigious award for composition. Caroline Shaw's works often make high demands on performers but also carry with them a rich zeitgeist. Part of their author characteristics is a rich awareness of the heritage of music history that weaves its way into the musical language in a thoughtful way.

In this extraordinary concert by Caroline Shaw, we will be introduced to four of her very different works. The concert will break up the traditional concert format and the orchestra will be in a ring formation on stage. The audience sits around the orchestra in Eldborg Hall, to the side of the stage, and in the front rows of the auditorium. This event gives audiences the opportunity to experience the orchestra's sound and performance in a unique way.
