Step into an innocent world disrupted by the shadow of war as WSO explores memory, identity and national pride on Remembrance Sunday.
From Grace Williams' Welsh nursery rhyme inspired orchestral work and her dramatic exploration of national identity, to Edward Elgar's grand and proud Symphony No. 1.
Violinist Madeleine Mitchell has a special association with Grace Williams, having discovered her unpublished Violin Sonata and recorded this on the Naxos album 'Grace Williams Chamber Music' with her London Chamber Ensemble - no.2 on the Classical Charts, Guardian CD of the week. She performed the Violin Concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales live on BBC Radio 3 and has also performed the work in London, Oxford and Dundee to great acclaim.
The young conductor of the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra, Bedwyn Lloyd-Philipps is passionate about the music of Grace Williams.
