Ukrainian-British violinist Luke Stepanyak makes his London concerto debut on 18 April 2026 at St Barnabas, Kensington, performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor with the Willow Orchestra. The programme, titled Fate & Fire, opens with Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, followed by Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto — a cornerstone of the Romantic violin repertoire combining lyrical elegance and virtuosic brilliance. The first half concludes with Saint-Saëns’ Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso, an electrifying showpiece for violin and orchestra .In the second half, the Willow Orchestra, conducted by its founder Bogdan Skrypka, performs Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor, a powerful symphonic journey from shadow to triumph.At just fifteen, Luke Stepanyak’s debut represents a significant artistic milestone and highlights the contribution of Ukrainian-British musicians to London’s classical music life.
About the soloist:
Luke Stepanyak is a Ukrainian-British violinist based in London. A student of the Junior Royal Academy of Music, he will begin his studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School, one of the world’s most distinguished specialist music institutions for young musicians. He has performed as both soloist and orchestral musician from an early age, and his London concerto debut with the Willow Orchestra marks an important step in his emerging career.

Bogdan Skrypka is the Founder and Conductor of the Willow Orchestra, leading the ensemble with energy, precision, and artistic vision. Based in London, he brings a dynamic and collaborative approach to orchestral performance, drawing on his diverse background as a conductor, pianist (LRSM), and percussionist. Under his direction, the Willow Orchestra has developed a reputation for vibrant performances and ambitious programming, reflecting his commitment to musical excellence and engaging audiences through both classical masterworks and fresh repertoire. Bogdan’s leadership combines technical expertise with a deep passion for inspiring musicians and fostering a strong artistic community.
