Principal guest conductor Maxim Emelyanychev leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Max Bruch's double concerto with the orchestra's own Albin Uusijärvi on viola and Andreas Sundén on clarinet in a tight interplay between dark sounds and bright lyricism. Wilhelm Stenhammar's finely chiseled Reverenza follows – a short piece with both warmth and poetry. Felix Mendelssohn's fourth symphony, "The Italian", concludes the concert with exuberant rhythms and sunny orchestral colour.
