An unforgettable human drama, told in music of startling sincerity and breathtaking beauty.

‘This is the best of me’, wrote Edward Elgar on the score of The Dream of Gerontius. So put aside any preconception about religious music – and about Elgar, too. This story of a lonely soul’s journey towards eternity is an unforgettable human drama, told in music of startling sincerity and breathtaking beauty. The LPO has a long history with this very British masterpiece (after all, we were once conducted by Elgar himself). And as we end our season, Edward Gardner, the London Philharmonic Choir, and three great singers renew that proud tradition, sharing music that comes straight from the heart.

There will be no interval in this performance.
